Literature Text

Huddled in a cabin train our hearts began to race
no food or water, but we had to keep the pace
we've ridden for three days
the doors open as we look around with dismay

A solider yells out "MARCH, LEFT RIGHT WE DON'T HAVE ALL DAY"
We thought we were heading to a paradise
That did not happen when we arrived
As we couldn't think, nor realized that we fell for a false lie
we couldn't cope
some of us tried to run because we had no hope

Whistle blows
Getting up
Tired
Hungry
Cold
Walking in rows
in the freezing snow
Men
Women
Children
are picked within
Knowing that we will never again see our kin

as the soldiers  had enlisted us with tasks to begin
Everyday we are
dirty
starving
beaten
The question is;
“What have we done to deserve this harsh treatment?”

eleven million lives lost

in the event now called the Holocaust

Thank you for sharing this work with me. It reminds me why we must make sure such a tragedy never, ever happens again. :(
